Job Summary:
Efficiency for Engineering &Energy Management services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing team, preferably based in Alexandria, Egypt. This entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a variety of electrical design projects. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of electrical engineering principles, practical experience gained within an electrical design office, and hands-on proficiency in industry-standard design software. You will be involved in the full lifecycle of projects, from initial concept to final documentation and cost considerations, across various locations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist senior engineers in the development of electrical designs for various projects, including power distribution systems, lighting systems, low current systems, and grounding systems, potentially adhering to different regional codes.
- Utilize AutoCAD to create and modify electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts, ensuring compliance with project-specific standards.
- Perform lighting calculations and design using DIALux to ensure compliance with relevant local and international standards, including those of Saudi Arabia if required.
- Conduct power system analysis, including load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies using ETAP software.
- Assist in the preparation of preliminary cost estimates for electrical systems based on design layouts and specifications, considering regional material costs.
- Gather pricing information for electrical materials and equipment.
- Prepare shadowing for electrical systems in coordination with site teams.
- Support senior engineers in the development of detailed cost breakdowns and bill of quantities.
- Stay updated with the latest industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience working within an electrical design office (internships and co-op experience will be considered).
- Demonstrable hands-on experience using AutoCAD for electrical drafting.
- Practical experience in lighting design and calculations using DIALux software.
- Familiarity with power system analysis concepts and hands-on experience with ETAP software.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and design standards (e.g., IEC).
- Basic understanding of cost estimation principles and methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, potentially across different cultural contexts.
- Proficiency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
- Experience with and knowledge of Saudi Arabian electrical codes and standards (e.g., SEC regulations) is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with Egyptian electrical codes and standards is also highly desirable.
